Pyrolysis technologies such as thyssenkrupp's ATP (Alberta Taciuk Process) are increasingly being adapted to the circular industrial economy. Tire rubber reprocessing is one example where thyssenkrupp is increasingly active.

Biofuels leader Greenergy announced their 'advanced biofuels' project in 2021. The facility will use pyrolysis and hydrotreating to convert waste tyres into 'drop in' renewable transportation fuels and will also produce a quality recovered carbon black.

Front end engineering design (FEED) for the Greenergy facility was recently completed, led by UK consultancy Petrofac. tkIS provided the engineering and design package for the pyrolysis system. tkIS also supported the project with piloting services through its research facility in Calgary.
